In Sede Egarensis is a long-term visual exploration of the urban, suburban and peri-urban landscapes of the city of Terrassa.

Located on an area of 70 km² south of the massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt, Terrassa is the capital, along with Sabadell, of the Catalan region of Vallès Occidental. Although its origins go back to Roman times, it wasn’t until the 19th century that it exploded economically and demographically thanks to the textile industry that arose as a result of the Industrial Revolution.

Such growth, as vertiginous as it was disorderly, came to stagnation with the oil crisis of the 1970s and picked up again with the international migration waves of the early 21st century. Today, with 225,277 inhabitants according to the 2023 census, Terrassa is the third most populous city in Catalonia.

A series of walks through the different neighborhoods, residential and industrial areas of the city lead me in 2022 to start building a personal archive of images where recurring themes are vernacular and self-built architecture, the gaps and margins of the urban fabric, the evidences of past times and the signs of possible futures.

This website shows the evolution of the project through time as it’s being regularly updated with new images.

An exhibition and a limited edition set of fine art prints were presented on May, 2024 as a part of the second edition of Àlbum, Terrassa’s festival of contemporary photography.
