In Sede Egarensis is a long-term photographic exploration of the urban, suburban and peri-urban landscapes of the city of Terrassa.
Located on an area of 70 km² south of the massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt, Terrassa is the capital, along with Sabadell, of the Catalan region of Vallès Occidental. Although its origins go back to Roman times, it wasn’t until the 19th century that it exploded economically and demographically thanks to the textile industry that arose as a result of the Industrial Revolution. This growth was particularly rapid and disorderly between 1940 and 1975, when the city’s population tripled, rising from 45,000 to 153,000 inhabitants in just 35 years.
The oil crisis of the 1970s ushered in a long period of stagnation, which came to an end with the arrival of new waves of international migration at the beginning of the 21st century.
Today, with 228,294 inhabitants recorded in the 2024 census and in a context marked by urban transformation and a booming real estate market, Terrassa is already the third most populous city in Catalonia and the twenty-second in Spain as a whole.

A series of walks through the different neighborhoods, residential and industrial areas of the city led me in 2022 to start building a personal archive of images where recurring themes are vernacular and self-built architecture, the gaps and margins of the urban fabric, the evidences of past times and the signs of possible futures.
This website shows the evolution of the project through time as it’s being regularly updated with new images.
An exhibition and a limited edition portfolio of fine art prints were presented on May, 2024 as a part of the second edition of Àlbum, Terrassa’s festival of contemporary photography.
